Next YE Meeting 9th April 2013

The next YE meeting will be on Tuesday the 9th April from 10.30 am to 2.30pm at Chelford Village Hall,

We are going to be making a colourful collage on paper first and them transferring it on to fabric and decorate it further.  You will need to bring some photos, images and colourful paper so you can make it really personal to you.

Young Embroiderers February 2013

For our February meeting Becky Smyllie, a talented embroidery student from Manchester Metropolitan University ran the workshop for us.  She showed us how to make these wonderful three dimensional letters which the young people decorated to make these colourful letters.

Young Embroiderers' Group Millefleurs Hanging

 The Young Embroiderers' Group meet on Tuesday for a printing session. One of the activities we did was to use leaves to print on felt to add to our hanging.

 We painted the leaves with green acrylic paint and them used a roller to press the leaf onto the cream felt fabric.

 The results were so really delicate effects.

 When they were dry we cut the shape of the leaf out and carefully painted the edges with green paint.

 We then added them to the hanging and the effect is stunning, The felt leaves look like porcelain and have really broken up the the mass of coloured flowers on the hanging which have been made over several sessions from felt, suffolk puffs etc

And we even have a little pig...........

"Coming up Roses'

The Young Embroiderers are continuing with the theme of flowers and are working together to create a floral wall hanging using many different techniques. At this meeting we made a selection of flowers from suffolk puffs, gathering and layering techniques. We also made some with faces!. The idea is that we will continue this theme for the next couple of meetings and that the hanging we make will be exhibited and them donated to a worthy cause. If any 'grown up' members have any flower making techniques they would like to share with us please let Maria Walker know as you are welcome to come along to out next meeting on the 15th Feb 2011

Young Embroiderers 25th August 2009

The Young Embroiderer's had a great time on Tuesday making felt using a potato masher and a cat litter tray! The theme was the seaside so first they came up with an idea for design. They made the felt using the wet method and when that was dry in the afternoon they added detail to it using the needlefelt method. The results were really stunning as you can see!

Young Embroiderers April 2009

The young embroiderers had a creative and productive day on 14th April 2009. They came armed with old pairs of jeans and gave them a new lease of life.
